Sen K is a collaborative project of San Diego musicians Eric and Krista Nielsen. Recorded with Ben Moore at Singing Serpent Studios, Still, the Heavens continues a body of work shaped by independent music, international collaboration, and a long connection to underground scenes in San Diego, Europe, and Japan. This release features guest appearances by Morgan Doctor, acclaimed cellist Charles Curtis, Jason Soares, Pall Jenkins, and Ben Moore.

The sessions for The Passion of Becky Royal began in a haze in San Diego with a trashed electric 12-string, a Magnatone Melodier amp and a portable pump organ. They continued sporadically over three and a half years, riding waves of tape delay, depression, heartbreak, elation, crisis, dormancy, exploration, conflict, inspiration and friendship between Mt. Washington and Ocean Beach. Old and new friends were invited to help shape and stretch the music: Becky Poole, a Chicago-based saw player, recorded in an apartment in Louisville; Morgan Doctor, a drummer living in Toronto, recorded at High Mountain Tempel’s Oceanic Lodge in San Diego; Adeline Jasso (OptimalGainOverDrive, L’Aura Moirè, Cat Power’s touring band) added vocals to two tracks. The fifth outing by the team of Eric Nielsen and Keith Boyd invites other musicians into their sacred fold, including Isis Aquarian (one of the wives of the late Father Yod), Bruce McKenzie of Buzz or Howl, and Higashi Hiroshi and Kawabata Makoto of Acid Mothers Temple.

Zali Krishna plays electric sitar and guitar, Mark Pilkington plays synthesisers and electronics — an hour of exotica kosmische. The legendary White Sands EP by levitational and bewitching acid folk trio Maquiladora, produced and mixed by Makoto Kawabata, previously a limited edition of 100 CD-R — now on CD, re-edited by the group with additional unreleased tracks and bonus live material. Japanese import.

Maquiladora make a pilgrimage from alto California, south into the ancient and sacred space of Wirikuta, where men and women journey to become remade — the band's first record in four years, and its first without Phil Beaumont. With guests Glenn Donaldson (Skygreen Leopards), Steven R. Smith (Thuja, Ulaan Khol) and Charles Curtis (La Monte Young).

The monks from High Mountain Tempel made the trek to Far, Fair Albion and returned to offer up this collaborative sacrifice with kindred sound freaks Earthling Society. Also featured: Isis Aquarian, Alpha-Crone and Logos of Father Yod and The Source Family; soundthreads wound and unwound by The Asterism; cello by Charles Curtis; Bruce McKenzie, the Oracle of Mount Washington. Born at the UFO Club in Tokyo: Buzz or Howl (Bruce McKenzie and Eric Nielsen) met Astro (Hiroshi Hasegawa) through mutual friend Junzo Suzuki. For this collaboration, mandolin, strum stick and voices are radically transformed by electricity over Astro's synth textures.
